Dursey Island Summer Festival
15th and 16th June, 2024
Every year since 2011 Dursey Islanders host a festival for visitors and islanders alike. This festival showcases island life at its best with local musicians giving hours of song and tunes while a wooden floor is built for those who want to dance to classic Irish reels and jigs.
There is always a ready supply of tea and home baked treats which are free for all, with a possible barbecue in the afternoon. Children are especially welcome.
Fundraising donations are accepted in lieu for our local RNLI station in Castletownbere.
This yearly island festival has developed a reputation for itself and musicians and visitors come to enjoy a unique day on one of Ireland’s most unique and beautiful islands.
It is an excellent way to present the island as not only somewhere to visit, but also to encourage people to relocate and set up home here. Cork is one of only six counties to have permanent island communities; seven West Cork islands are inhabited.
Further details of events taking place on the other West Cork islands during the summer can be found at www.westcorkislands.com.
