Kilmichael Cottage Café is just a 25 minute walk from the Dursey Island Cable Car. Located in the middle village, it is the perfect place to stop and refuel before or after exploring the island.
The café offers a delicious selection of freshly prepared homemade soups and bread, homemade cakes and sweet treats, tea and coffee, ice cream, refreshments, and tasty charcuterie and cheese boards. All baking is completed freshly on site, ensuring visitors can enjoy delicious homemade treats during their visit.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, guests can sit back and soak up the spectacular scenery while enjoying a relaxing break. Bathroom facilities are available to customers.
The cafe showcases artwork by Dursey Island Arts and other local artists, with a selection of local artwork available to browse and purchase, alongside a range of souvenirs to remember your visit to the island.

Sheila O’Callaghan is one of Dursey Island’s few permanent residents. On most days, she welcomes visitors into her garden to sample delicious food and drinks made with ingredients foraged or grown on the island.
You will find he in Kilmichael, Dursey’s second village, approximately a 25-minute walk from the cable car. Better still, take the hill path across the mountain, enjoy the island’s spectacular landscape and then descend into the village for a refreshing hibiscus or wild fennel drink.
Sheila’s rhubarb and carrot cakes are always in great demand, alongside a cappuccino. For those who prefer something savoury, she also serves homemade brown bread with mackerel pâté.
She also creates signature and personalised essential-oil blends, presented with carefully selected semiprecious stones.
