Announcement
THE CABLE CAR WILL BE CLOSED TO VISITORS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The following rules will remain in place on an ongoing basis due to the COVID-19 pandemic:
1. The wearing of face masks/coverings is compulsory, there will be no exceptions. If a person on the cable car is not wearing a mask, the cable car will not depart.
2. Face masks are not available for purchase at the cable car office, therefore you must bring your own.
3. Due to the need for physical distancing during the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of people allowed to travel on the cable car is restricted to 4 per trip. This rises to the usual cable car maximum of 6 if all persons are from the same travelling family/group.
4. The standard hand hygiene, sneezing and coughing protocols should be adhered to.
5. As space on the cable car is limited, visitors are advised to arrive as early as possible to avoid disappointment.   Due to exceptional demand, the queues are very long at this time.
6.  Island residents have priority boarding for the cable car.
7. As always
, there is no pre-booking system in operation, the cable car operates on a first-come first-served basis.
8. Tickets are sold for cash only, there is no card or card tapping functionality. Where possible, please try to give exact amount to minimise the exchange of money.

Originally opened in 1969, the Dursey Island cable car remains, to this day, the most used means of transport across the turbulent waters of the Dursey Sound and offers a truly singular experience. Ireland's only cable car and the only cable car that traverses open seawater in all of Europe, it is one of the great attractions of the island and people travel from far and wide to give it a go!

If you have any questions concerning the cable car, please see our FAQ section to see if you can find the answer there!
